Shift to Remote Learning for all PCS Students

Dear Potsdam Central School Community,

Unfortunately, we have been informed of a positive case and two suspected cases of COVID-19 among our transportation staff, which may affect many students and staff. In order to protect the health and safety of everyone in our school community, we will be pivoting to remote instruction for all students district-wide until November 30th.

We know you have many questions and concerns and while we cannot share details identifying the individuals, I can assure you that if you or your child have come in contact with a positive individual, you will be contacted directly by St. Lawrence County Department of Public Health.

St. Lawrence County is currently experiencing a sharp rise in COVID-19 cases, and the county has declared a state of emergency. We are communicating frequently with Public Health to assess the situation and may plan for an extended period of remote learning if the current public health crisis warrants it. While we do not have plans for remote learning beyond November 30th at this juncture, families should prepare for the possibility of a long-term closure. If this occurs, we will communicate any changes to the current plan with our community as soon as a decision is made.

If you have any questions, please contact your child's principal, or you may contact me directly.

Joann Chambers, Superintendent
